Body Brilliant Yoga Level 1

Beginner

Experience a gentle introduction to movement that enhances strength, agility, and body awareness through a blend of yoga and mindful movement, tailored specifically for people 60+. This level ensures safety and comfort, helping you function better in everyday life by addressing your body’s capabilities softly and effectively.

Body Brilliant Yoga Level 2

Intermediate

Explore a unique combination of yoga, body awareness, and slow movement to relieve deep-seated stiffness, while also strengthening and elongating your spine and entire body. This level incorporates standing poses and more advanced postures, emphasizing balance, twists, and backbends to challenge your body safely.

Body Brilliant Yoga Level 3

Advanced

This advanced class is tailored for those who can safely perform headstands, backbends, and arm balances, and requires prior approval by Barbara. It’s designed to push the boundaries of your physical capabilities, offering an intense challenge for seasoned practitioners.

Awareness Through Movement®

Beginner Level

Engage in slow, repetitive movements primarily lying down to enhance body awareness, restore full range of motion, and improve breathing and posture. These classes are designed to rejuvenate your physical health gently and effectively.

Today’s awareness through movement class was amazing for me. I was not expecting my body to feel so changed by the class. My whole body felt like it could move better even though we focused on shoulder and neck. These small actions repeated in a very easy calm relaxed way made more difference than the many hard core classes I have taken at other places.

 It’s been 14 years since I began taking your courses which were recommended to me by a body worker. How fortuitous. I began almost immediately to notice that I didn’t wake up stiff any more. I didn’t want to take a yoga that reminded me of my high school gym class inadequacies, and what you now call the Body Brilliant Method that doesn’t rely on old “no pain, no gain” or other of the latest fad gimmicks continues to be such an important part of my days that I’m hoping you’ll keep going as long as I am above ground. Very good interview, Barbara! About the part where you were mentioning that your class (i.e. we) were getting it from your verbal instructions … you are very good in giving precise, step by step, descriptive instructions as we move through Yoga 1. That is a very special skill and one that I love because I like to keep my eyes closed to help me feel by body. You have always been good at this but I feel it more acutely since we’ve been doing Yoga via Zoom.
